Bowtie Group Medical COVID-19 test coverage

With more than 1,000 COVID-19 infections for the first time, we’re facing the worst wave of infections in Hong Kong. We have observed an immediate tightening of COVID restrictions, followed by a surging demand for at-home COVID-19 tests. Therefore, Bowtie is expanding our Group Medical coverage to the COVID-19 test.

Details of Bowtie Group Medical COVID-19 Test Coverage

During the benefit period, each insured of the Bowtie Corp Medical Insurance Plan (existing and new customers) can enjoy a reimbursement of up to $100 for COVID-19 rapid test, with a maximum of two tests⁺, whether or not the test is medically necessary.

All COVID-19 rapid tests purchased or performed within the promotion period are eligible for reimbursement, including rapid antigen and nucleic acid amplification tests. The reimbursement is not limited to brands/medical institutions. Check out the example below:

Compensation is calculated based on the number of tests and policies

If you purchase a set of 2 test kits, it will be counted as 2 tests, and you can apply for a one-time claim for total compensation of up to HK$200. If you purchase more than 2 sets of test kits, it can only be counted as 2 tests at most.

Since the benefit is calculated based on the number of policies, if you are the insured of Bowtie VHIS Plan and Bowtie Corp Medical Insurance Plan, you can claim 4 tests in total.

Benefit period:February 18, 2022 to April 30, 2022

How to Claim

File a claim in 6 steps, as simple as submitting a group medical claim 

Required documents: 

  • Receipt(s) of COVID-19 test which clearly states the name of testing items / test kit, date of purchase and price of the test.

  1. Login to your Bowtie account, and select “Claim Home”.
  2. Select “Claim”.
  3. Select the relevant Group Medical policy. Choose “COVID-19 Tests” under treatment type.
  4. Enter the total amount on the receipt.
  5. Fill in the bank account details
  6. Upload the receipt(s), then submit. (You may upload multiple receipts)

To speed up the claim process

We suggest you upload the receipt with COVID-19 test fee only and upload all relevant receipts under the same claim application.

Bowtie Corp Medical Insurance Plan is highly cost-effective, offering different plans for companies to choose from based on their actual needs, with monthly premiums ranging from HK$98 to HK$598 per person.

  • Basic Bronze, Silver & Gold Plans: In addition to life coverage, hospitalization and annual body checks, the insured can enjoy BowtieGo’s network services at membership fee, i.e. Chinese and Western outpatient services, dental outpatient services and up to 24 types of specialist outpatient services. No referral letter# is required for specialist outpatient services, reducing the effort for filing additional claims.
  • Pro Bronze, Silver and Gold: It covers 10 major areas to meet different needs of employees, including life, inpatient and day surgery, general outpatient, specialist outpatient, Chinese medicine outpatient, dental, physiotherapy, chiropractic, diagnostic imaging and laboratory and physical examination. Although the Group Medical Plans (including Pro Bronze, Silver and Gold plans) set coverage limits on outpatient benefit, the insured can enjoy outpatient services with only HK$30^ deductible per visit, such as general outpatient, Chinese medicine outpatient, dental coverage, specialist outpatient, etc. 

The Pro Gold Plan maximizes the insured person’s coverage by providing HK$30^ deductible for physiotherapy and chiropractic treatment*, as well as diagnostic imaging and laboratory# coverage up to HK$1,500 per year!

  • #Exclude chiropractors and physiotherapists
  • ^The minimum payment per visit (co-payment) is HK$30. Full reimbursement (except the co-payment HK$30) for eligible expenses under the benefit limit. For detailed benefit limits, please refer to Policy Terms & Conditions.

Terms and Conditions

1. Bowtie Corp Medical Insurance Special Group Medical Offer: Covid-19 Test Coverage (“The Protection”) is valid from February 18, 2022 to April 30, 2022, both dates inclusive (“The Protection Period”). 

2. The Protection is applicable to new customers who successfully enrol the Bowtie Corp Medical Insurance Plan at all levels  (“All Eligible Plans”) and its policy is effective on or before 30th April, 2022 or the existing customers with the inforce policy of all Eligible Plans remaining effective on or before 18th Feb,2022. 

3. For the application submitted during the Protection Period, the policy holder has never held any Bowtie Corp Medical Insurance Plan or Bowtie Group Insurance Plan.

4. Special Group Medical Offer: Covid-19 Test Coverage inforce immediately upon eligible policy effectives. Each insured of the Bowtie Group Medical Insurance Plan can apply for reimbursement according to the given instructions.

5. The claimant must be an insured of Bowtie Group Medical Insurance Plan insured at the time when he/she purchases the rapid antigen test  or nucleic acid amplification tests for COVID-19 (collectively “COVID-19 test”) and submit the claims of COVID-19 test.

6. The Covid-19 tests must be purchased within stated the protection period.Each insured of the Bowtie Group Medical Insurance Plan can enjoy a reimbursement of up to $100 for each COVID-19 rapid test (including rapid antigen and nucleic acid amplification tests) , with a maximum of two tests, all claims must be submitted on or before April 30, 2022.

7. All COVID-19 rapid tests purchased or performed within the promotion period are eligible for reimbursement, including rapid antigen and nucleic acid amplification tests. The reimbursement is not limited to brands/medical institutions. 8. The protection cannot be changed, returned, exchanged for other gifts, transferred to third party or used in conjunction with other promotional offers.

9. The claimant must declare that the COVID-19 test was purchased for personal diagnostic use (for the insured person of  Bowtie Corp Group Medical policy), which have not been and will not be reimbursed by another source, and are not for resale.

10. The claimant  must include all original receipts or online proof of purchase in order for the claim to process, with the following information clearly shown on it:

  1. Date of Purchase
  2. Price of Purchase
  3. Name of the COVID-19 Test

11. Bowtie will not be liable for any matter or loss in relation to submission delay, loss, and any information transmission error due to technical problems including but not limited to any computer or internet network issues. All dates and time related to the Protection (including but not limited to the Protection Period) are recorded according to the reception of Bowtie’s server and computer records.

12. Bowtie reserves the right to modify this Terms and Conditions at any time without prior notice. In case of any dispute, Bowtie reserves the right of final decision.
